Mike, You can relate to Omar? You had alot of pain in your life. How did you overcome the man? How are things going for you. Did you seek help or overcame it on your own? qcamer
Hi Michael, Ok um, how do I not sound too psycho? While I am adult enough to know the difference between a character and a real life person, of course it takes finesse to pull off what you did in The Wire. So now I am freaked out just a little because while Omar will always be remembered, I know Hollywood isn't so nice. But I see you have some things in post-production and what not, so I will patiently wait. Anyway, thank you for an amazing accomplishment and making us say "hmmm." I wish you all the best. P.S. I had a really cool non-sexual dream about Omar. And both of you are sexy as hell ! :-)
Mike - you are a talented young man! I have watched you over the years and you have evolved into a very diverse and intriguing actor. You took the character Omar to a whole another level that people became obsessed with - we would have Wire parties just to see what Omar was going to do or say next. Famous quote "Every Man gotta have a Code". When Omar died you would have thought it was someone in our family...we were torn down...lol. You are a legend. Much love and success to you in the future -
I am not a big TV-watcher in general, since very little on TV captures my attention for any length of time, but my friend convinced me to watch The Wire....I have gone through all 5 seasons in the last few weeks and you are one of the finest actors I have ever seen. You are able to portray such a wide range of emotions with your facial expressions alone....pretty rare! Great job and thank you!!!!
Girlfriend and I were watching The Wire the other night and both came to the same conclusion; Omar needs his own back-story series. Great work Michael!
I heard there were pictures of you at the awards show - I thought you would have them on your site. None! Why? Send me an email and I will give you my new home#.
I have just finished watching the Wire and must say I am impressesd with the quality of both the programme and your acting. Bravo and all the best with future endevours.
Presently watching my set of the Wire DVDs for about the third time. I have to admit I don't like to watch season 5 due to the finale of the Omar story line. So many memorable characters from the series. Great job and best of luck in the future - I look forward to seeing you in some of the items listed as post-production at the IMDB site.
ps....I was born in Flatbush also (over 50 years ago).
I just started watching the Wire a few weeks ago and I'm hooked. I have to say that Omar is my all time favorite character from any genre ever. No bullshit. Your performance has been brilliant. Also, the bravery you have shown in portraying a homosexual character is admirable. Keep up the good work man. I'll watch anything you're in.
Thank you so very much for the work and the art you put into Omar. There was never a false moment, never enough of him. He brought much joy and genuine grief at his death through you. You are amazing. Thank you again.
A´ight, this site looks nice & the teaser too... I ain´t the fanboy type...... but somethin made me look ya up. I saw somethin very familiar in your face when I watched your Omar.... Now I sorta know why after watchin the vs vid clip. Anyway I had to grin wide when I saw that you haven´t xactly been peppering the site with blog entries..... Life is just toooooo busy for keepin up with that... And I guess we would see thru some hired pen..... Anyway you have a fan in the real Amsterdam Holland (looks scarily like the Baltimore portrayed in the show) Kudos and my hat´s off to ya !!
Michael, I am just finishing watching The Wire on dvds, and I have to tell you how much Omar meant to me. He was the most complex and interesting character on television. He was well-written and well-conceived, but it was YOU that breathed life into him! I fell a little bit in love with this character, and really hated the ignonimous ending to his life. Oh, I EXPECTED him to die. But in a blaze of glory, taking Marlo out, not at the hands of a child! It was Snape's demise all over again!
Anyway, I look forward to seeing you in more things in the future. I'm sure that you will get lots of work as a result of your brilliant performance. Love ya, dude!
Ummm--what happened to "this blog will be updated frequently?"
Keeping my fingers crossed for NBC's "The Philanthropist." but I worry. They fired creators Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson (Homicide: Life on the Street) because they wanted something lighter than their original vision for the show (like something intelligent & interesting), then rehired Tom Fontana. Let's hope he doesn't have to compromise too much. For its time, 'Homicide" was highest quality tv drama and still holds up--topped only by "The Wire," but that's deluxe cable where shows can be as gritty as cinema.
I haven't watched anything on network tv for over a year and only watch MSNBC news shows--no job, so no premium cable, but I'll be holding my breath waiting for news of "Philanthropist" and MKW's role on it.
